# §7315. Powers

- (a) **Hearings—** The [Commission](/usc/7/1a.md?p=8) may, for the purpose of carrying out this subchapter, conduct such hearings, sit and act at such times, take such testimony, and receive such evidence, as the [Commission](/usc/7/1a.md?p=8) considers appropriate.
- (b) **Assistance from other agencies—** The [Commission](/usc/7/1a.md?p=8) may secure directly from any [department](/usc/7/7202.md?p=7) or agency of the Federal Government such information as may be necessary for the [Commission](/usc/7/1a.md?p=8) to carry out its duties under this subchapter. On the request of the chairperson of the [Commission](/usc/7/1a.md?p=8), the head of the [department](/usc/7/7202.md?p=7) or agency shall, to the extent permitted by law, furnish such information to the [Commission](/usc/7/1a.md?p=8).
- (c) **Mail—** The [Commission](/usc/7/1a.md?p=8) may use the [United States](/usc/7/7202.md?p=15) mails in the same manner and under the same conditions as the [departments](/usc/7/7202.md?p=7) and agencies of the Federal Government.
- (d) **Assistance from Secretary—** The [Secretary](/usc/7/7202.md?p=13) shall provide to the [Commission](/usc/7/1a.md?p=8) appropriate office space and such reasonable administrative and support services as the [Commission](/usc/7/1a.md?p=8) may request.
