# §4204. Technical assistance


The [Secretary](/usc/7/4201.md?p=c-5) is encouraged to provide technical assistance to any [State](/usc/7/4201.md?p=c-2) or [unit of local government](/usc/7/4201.md?p=c-3), or any nonprofit organization, as determined by the [Secretary](/usc/7/4201.md?p=c-5), that desires to develop programs or policies to limit the conversion of productive [farmland](/usc/7/4201.md?p=c-1) to nonagricultural uses.
