# §214. Effective date of orders


Except as otherwise provided in this chapter all [orders](/usc/7/2902.md?p=10) of the [Secretary](/usc/7/182.md?p=2) under this subchapter, other than [orders](/usc/7/2902.md?p=10) for the payment of money, shall take effect within such reasonable time, not less than five days, as is prescribed in the [order](/usc/7/2902.md?p=10), and shall continue in force until his further [order](/usc/7/2902.md?p=10), or for a specified period of time, according as is prescribed in the [order](/usc/7/2902.md?p=10), unless such [order](/usc/7/2902.md?p=10) is suspended or modified or set aside by the [Secretary](/usc/7/182.md?p=2) or is suspended or set aside by a court of competent jurisdiction.
