# §112. State


In this title, the term “State” means a State of the [United States](/usc/46/114.md), the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, and any other territory or possession of the [United States](/usc/46/114.md).
