# §9307. Program advisory committees


The [Secretary](/usc/42/9302.md?p=6) may direct the [director](/usc/42/5061.md?p=1) of each [laboratory](/usc/42/300jj.md?p=10) or installation at which a major [magnetic fusion](/usc/42/9302.md?p=2) [facility](/usc/42/11049.md?p=4) is operated for, or funded primarily by, the Federal Government to establish, for the sole purpose of providing advice to such [director](/usc/42/5061.md?p=1), a [program](/usc/42/274l–1.md?p=4) [advisory committee](/usc/42/7703.md?p=9) composed of [persons](/usc/42/1320a–7k.md?p=d-4-C-i) with expertise in [magnetic fusion](/usc/42/9302.md?p=2) from such domestic industry, universities, government [laboratories](/usc/42/300jj.md?p=10), and other scientific and technical organizations as such [director](/usc/42/5061.md?p=1) deems appropriate.

### Termination of Advisory Committees

Advisory committees established after Jan. 5, 1973, to terminate not later than the expiration of the 2-year period beginning on the date of their establishment, unless, in the case of a committee established by the President or an officer of the Federal Government, such committee is renewed by appropriate action prior to the expiration of such 2-year period, or in the case of a committee established by the Congress, its duration is otherwise provided for by law. See section 1013 of Title 5, Government Organization and Employees.
