# §7382d. Fellowship awards

- (a) **Fellowship recipient compensation—** Each [recipient](/usc/42/2996a.md?p=6) of a [fellowship](/usc/42/1862n–1.md?p=i-3) under this subchapter shall be paid during the [fellowship](/usc/42/1862n–1.md?p=i-3) period at a rate of pay that shall not exceed the minimum annual rate payable for a position under GS–13 of the General Schedule.
- (b) **Local educational agency—** The [Secretary](/usc/42/7382b.md?p=4) shall seek to ensure that no [local educational agency](/usc/42/7382b.md?p=2) penalizes a teacher who elects to participate in the [Program](/usc/42/274l–1.md?p=4).
