# §2136. Classes of facilities


The [Commission](/usc/42/2000ff.md?p=1) may—

- (a) group the [facilities](/usc/42/11049.md?p=4) licensed either under section [2133](/usc/42/2133.md) or [2134](/usc/42/2134.md) of this title into classes which may include either production or utilization [facilities](/usc/42/11049.md?p=4) or both, upon the basis of the similarity of operating and technical characteristics of the [facilities](/usc/42/11049.md?p=4);
- (b) define the various activities to be carried on at each such class of [facility](/usc/42/11049.md?p=4); and
- (c) designate the amounts of [special nuclear material](/usc/42/2014.md?p=aa) available for use by each such [facility](/usc/42/11049.md?p=4).
