# §7299. Limitation on activities of retired judges

- (a) A retired [judge](/usc/38/7297.md?p=a-2) of the Court who is recall-eligible under [section 7257 of this title](/usc/38/7257.md) and who in the practice of law represents (or supervises or directs the representation of) a client in making any claim relating to [veterans](/usc/38/101.md?p=2)’ benefits against the United States or any [agency](/usc/38/4214.md?p=a-2-A) thereof shall, pursuant to such section, be considered to have declined recall service and be removed from the status of a recall-eligible [judge](/usc/38/7297.md?p=a-2). The [pay](/usc/38/7297.md?p=a-3) of such a [judge](/usc/38/7297.md?p=a-2), pursuant to [section 7296 of this title](/usc/38/7296.md), shall be the [pay](/usc/38/7297.md?p=a-3) of the [judge](/usc/38/7297.md?p=a-2) at the time of the removal from recall status.
- (b) A recall-eligible [judge](/usc/38/7297.md?p=a-2) shall be considered to be an officer or [employee](/usc/38/4303.md?p=3) of the United States, but only during periods when the [judge](/usc/38/7297.md?p=a-2) is serving in recall status. Any prohibition, limitation, or restriction that would otherwise apply to the activities of a recall-eligible [judge](/usc/38/7297.md?p=a-2) shall apply only during periods when the [judge](/usc/38/7297.md?p=a-2) is serving in recall status.
