# §2299. Acquisition of beach fill


Notwithstanding any other provision of law, in any case in which the use of fill [material](/usc/33/1402.md?p=c) for beach erosion and beach nourishment is authorized as a purpose of an authorized water resources project, the [Secretary](/usc/33/2201.md) is authorized to acquire by purchase, exchange, or otherwise from nondomestic sources and utilize such [material](/usc/33/1402.md?p=c) for such purposes if such [materials](/usc/33/1402.md?p=c) are not available from domestic sources for environmental or economic reasons.
