# §184. Rights of children born of marriages between white men and Indian women


All children born of a marriage solemnized prior to June 7, 1897, between a white man and an [Indian](/usc/25/1934.md) woman by blood and not by adoption, where said [Indian](/usc/25/1934.md) woman was on that date, or was at the time of her death, recognized by the [tribe](/usc/25/3402.md?p=2-A), shall have the same rights and privileges to the property of the [tribe](/usc/25/3402.md?p=2-A) to which the mother belongs, or belonged at the time of her death, by blood, as any other member of the [tribe](/usc/25/3402.md?p=2-A), and no prior Act of Congress shall be construed as to debar such child of such right.
