# §181. Rights of white men marrying Indian women; tribal property


No white man, not otherwise a member of any [tribe](/usc/25/3402.md?p=2-A) of [Indians](/usc/25/1934.md), who may after August 9, 1888, marry an [Indian](/usc/25/1934.md) woman, member of any [Indian tribe](/usc/25/81.md?p=a-2) in the United States, or any of its Territories except the Five Civilized [Tribes](/usc/25/3402.md?p=2-A) in the [Indian](/usc/25/1934.md) Territory, shall by such marriage after August 9, 1888, acquire any right to any tribal property, privilege, or interest whatever to which any member of such [tribe](/usc/25/3402.md?p=2-A) is entitled.
