# §1433. Definitions


When used in this chapter, the term—

- (1) “Secretary” means the Secretary of State.
- (2) “Department” means the Department of State.
- (3) “Government agency” means any executive [department](#2), [board](/usc/22/2431a.md?p=4), bureau, [commission](/usc/22/277d–43.md?p=2), or other agency of the Federal Government, or independent establishment, or any [corporation](/usc/22/7702.md?p=6) wholly owned (either directly or through one or more [corporations](/usc/22/7702.md?p=6)) by the [United States](/usc/22/1395.md?p=a-1).
