# §8304. Reports

- (a) **In general—** Not later than 1 year after December 11, 2024, and annually thereafter, the [Secretary](/usc/16/8302.md?p=11), acting through the Director of the [Service](/usc/16/8302.md?p=12), shall submit to the [Committees](/usc/16/941b.md?p=1) on Appropriations and Natural [Resources](/usc/16/410hhh–1.md?p=8) of the House of [Representatives](/usc/16/5609.md?p=13) and the [Committees](/usc/16/941b.md?p=1) on Appropriations and Environment and Public Works of the Senate, and make available to the public on the website of the [Service](/usc/16/8302.md?p=12), a report on the Coastal [Program](/usc/16/460ss–6.md?p=1) carried out under this chapter.
- (b) **Requirements—** Each report submitted under [subsection (a)](#a) shall assess on regional and nationwide bases—
  - (1) Coastal [Program](/usc/16/460ss–6.md?p=1) work on [coastal ecosystems](/usc/16/8302.md?p=1);
  - (2) progress made by the Coastal [Program](/usc/16/460ss–6.md?p=1) toward identifying the leading threats to priority [coastal landscapes](/usc/16/8302.md?p=7) and [conservation](/usc/16/6456.md?p=2) actions to address those threats; and
  - (3) prospects for, and success of, protecting, restoring, and enhancing [coastal ecosystems](/usc/16/8302.md?p=1).
- (c) **Inclusions—** Each report submitted under [subsection (a)](#a) shall include—
  - (1) quantitative information on [coastal landscapes](/usc/16/8302.md?p=7) protected, restored, or enhanced;
  - (2) [funds](/usc/16/1421h.md?p=2) appropriated to the Coastal [Program](/usc/16/460ss–6.md?p=1) that have been expended or leveraged;
  - (3) a description of adaptive management practices implemented; and
  - (4) a description of emerging challenges or data gaps that hinder the ability of the Coastal [Program](/usc/16/460ss–6.md?p=1) to achieve the purpose of this chapter.
