# §3705. Volunteer status


The [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior or the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of Commerce may accept, without regard to the civil service classification laws, rules, or regulations, the services of the [Foundation](/usc/16/450ss–1.md?p=1), the [Board](/usc/16/1447a.md?p=1), and the officers and employees of the [Board](/usc/16/1447a.md?p=1), without compensation from the Department of the Interior or the Department of Commerce, as volunteers in the performance of the functions authorized herein, in the manner provided for under [section 742f(c) of this title](/usc/16/742f.md?p=c).
