# §3231. Areas subject to national need recommendation process


The process contained in this subchapter shall apply to all [public lands](/usc/16/3102.md?p=3) within Alaska except for lands within [units](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) of the [National Park](/usc/16/410hhh–1.md?p=5) [System](/usc/16/668ee.md?p=14) and the Arctic National [Wildlife Refuge](/usc/16/410hhh–1.md?p=6).
