# §227. Utilization of areas for Government reclamation projects


Whenever consistent with the primary purposes of such [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3), the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior is authorized to permit the utilization of those [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) formerly within the Lake Mead National [Recreation Area](/usc/16/460bbb–1.md?p=3) immediately prior to January 3, 1975, and added to the [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) by [sections 228a to 228j](/usc/16/228a..228j.md) of this title, which may be necessary for the development and maintenance of a Government reclamation [project](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-4).
