# §1729. Funding

- (a) **Cost sharing—**
  - (1) **Projects by qualified youth or conservation corps—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/1722.md?p=13) is authorized to pay not more than 75 percent of the costs of any [appropriate conservation project](/usc/16/1722.md?p=1) carried out pursuant to this subchapter on [public lands](/usc/16/1722.md?p=10) by a [qualified youth or conservation corps](/usc/16/1722.md?p=11). The remaining 25 percent of the costs of such a [project](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-4) may be provided from nonfederal sources in the form of [funds](/usc/16/1421h.md?p=2), services, facilities, materials, equipment, or any combination of the foregoing. No cost sharing shall be required in the case of any [appropriate conservation project](/usc/16/1722.md?p=1) carried out on [Indian lands](/usc/16/1722.md?p=6) or [Hawaiian home lands](/usc/16/1722.md?p=4) under this subchapter.
  - (2) **Public Lands Corps projects—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/1722.md?p=13) is authorized to accept donations of [funds](/usc/16/1421h.md?p=2), services, facilities, materials, or equipment for the purposes of operating the [Public Lands Corps](/usc/16/1722.md?p=2) and carrying out [appropriate conservation projects](/usc/16/1722.md?p=1) by the [Corps](/usc/16/1722.md?p=2). However, nothing in this subchapter shall be construed to require any cost sharing for any [project](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-4) carried out directly by the [Corps](/usc/16/1722.md?p=2).
- (b) **Funds available under National and Community Service Act—** In order to carry out the [Public Lands Corps](/usc/16/1722.md?p=2) or to support [resource assistants](/usc/16/1722.md?p=12) and [qualified youth or conservation corps](/usc/16/1722.md?p=11) under this subchapter, the [Secretary](/usc/16/1722.md?p=13) shall be eligible to apply for and receive assistance under [section 121(b)](/usc/16/121.md) of the National and Community Service Act of 1990 [[42 U.S.C. 12571(b)](/usc/42/12571.md?p=b)].
- (c) **Other funds—** Amounts appropriated pursuant to the authorization of appropriations under [section 1730 of this title](/usc/16/1730.md) are in [addition](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-2) to amounts allocated to the [Public Lands Corps](/usc/16/1722.md?p=2) through other Federal [programs](/usc/16/460ss–6.md?p=1) or [projects](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-4).
