# §1704. Service acquisition executives: authorities and responsibilities


Subject to the authority, direction, and control of the Secretary of the military [department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6) concerned, the [service acquisition executive](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-10) for each military [department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6) shall carry out all powers, functions, and duties of the [Secretary concerned](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-9) with respect to the [acquisition workforce](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-18) within the military [department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6) concerned and shall ensure that the policies of the Secretary of Defense established in accordance with this chapter are implemented in that [department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6).
